This year, Christine was honored at the first annual HERO Dinner, hosted by Stockton’s Alpha Delta Fraternity and the To Be a HERO Club. Christine is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority on Stockton’s campus and has made a positive impact on her sisters by being a designated driver. Ensign Elliott was killed in a collision with a drunken driver in July, 2000, two months after graduating with honors from the United States Naval Academy.Ĭhristine was nominated by fellow student Amanda Sarno and selected as the top Designated HERO for serving as a designated driver for her classmates.

The HERO Campaign, established in memory by the family of Navy Ensign John Elliott of Egg Harbor Township, promotes the use of safe and sober designated drivers to prevent drunken driving tragedies. Thanks to Clear Channel Outdoor Advertising, Christine’s billboard will promote the HERO Campaign and designated driving by encouraging others to “Be like Christine. Harm reduction is less about policies and more about taking care of one another, creating a culture of care, and caring enough to confront another member if they are demonstrating harmful behaviors. As a result of these efforts, the data shows a significant decrease in problematic and high-risk drinking, fewer members are experiencing negative impacts of alcohol consumption (hangovers, academic impacts, injury, etc.), and a decrease in bystander behaviors. To accomplish this goal, the organization invested in the online program GreekLife.Edu (and later Mental Well-being), recruited and trained highly skilled SAFE Team volunteers to facilitate in-person programming, developed a data-driven prevention plan. Tri Sigma announced their prevention philosophy in 2013 with one goal: to reduce the high-risk behaviors as identified in our internal assessment. Presented by Vector Solutions, the CPN Seal of Prevention is awarded to institutions of higher education and fraternity/sorority organizations that have demonstrated leadership in digital prevention programming focused on student safety, well-being, and inclusion. In 2021 and again in 2022, Tri Sigma was named a recipient of the Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention. Tri Sigma is committed to promoting a safe environment and educating students and advisors on strategies to prevent high-risk behaviors.
